Nolan Ricker, Pine Bluff

Nolan Byrd Ricker, age 78, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, October 2, 2015.

Born November 17. 1936 at Greeneville, TN, he reared and educated in the Camp Creek Community. His parents were the late Horace Virgil Ricker and Bonnie Ruth Holley Ricker. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

For several years, Mr. Ricker worked for International Paper Company at the Vicksburg Mill and lived in Yazoo City, MS. He transferred to Pine Bluff and worked as a maintenance foreman, retiring in 1992 after 23 years of service.

He was a longtime member of Shannon Road Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Wahabi-Yazoo City Shrine Club in Mississippi.

An avid fisherman and hunter who loved being with his family, he also enjoyed traveling, square dancing, and gardening. He was a skilled woodworker, and was very creative and inventive.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Porter Ricker on June 13, 2012; a grandson, Jeremy Ricker; three brothers, Don Ricker, Albert Ricker, and Norman Ricker; and two sisters, Clennis Jennings and Ollie Ruth Hensley.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Ricker and wife Beth of Madison, MS, Ronnie Ricker and wife Billie of Pine Bluff, and Lisa Woolley and husband John of Woodlawn; sisters, Wanda Fillers and Shirley Waddell; brother-in-law, J. S. Fillers; grandchildren, Brittany Ricker, Briana Ricker, Paige Ricker, Austin Logan, Colby Woolley, Morgan Woolley, Paige Cannon and husband Josh, and Bailey Prisock; and a great-grandchild, Brody Woolley; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.

Funeral Services will be Monday, October 5, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Shannon Road Baptist Church with Brother Josh Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church.
