Judy Cox, Pine Bluff

Judy Kay Andrews Cox, age 70, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

Born September 27, 1944 at home in Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late Ira Andrews, Sr. and Lenora Colvin Andrews. From the age of three months, she was raised by the late E. H. Herring and Etta Hurst Herring.

Judy graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1962 and later attended business school.

In her early adulthood, she worked for four years at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, CA. For the majority of her of career, she was a legal secretary, working 16 years for Brockman, Brockman, and Gunti; four years with Brockman, Brockman, and Norton; and one year for the Friday Law Firm in Little Rock. She later retired from International Paper Company.

Judy served for two years as president of the Jefferson County Legal Secretaries’ Association, and was chosen secretary of the year. She also served two years as president of the Camden Road Extension Homemaker’s Club, and was currently president of the Jefferson County EHC.

A member of Pine Bluff First Assembly of God, she served four years as president of the Ladies Ministry.

Judy was a funny person with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to entertain and host family holiday dinners. Another special contribution was knitting hats for patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Rayburn “Ray” Cox, whom she married on April 10, 1964 at Pine Bluff; two daughters, Rhonda Cox Wallace (Ricky) and Kim Cox Smith (Mark), all of Pine Bluff; her grandchildren, Drew Wallace (Marilee) of Maumelle, Brittany Schmidt (Trent) of Bryant, Taylor Wallace (Brittanie) of Austin, AR, Alli Smith of Little Rock, and Cody Deml of Pine Bluff; three siblings, Jean Graves and Ira Andrews, Jr., both of Houston, TX and Sue Divine (J. L) of Searcy; and her step-siblings, William Hurst of Pine Bluff, and Donald Hurst and Sheila Austin, both of Star City.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Cottrell and Brother Todd Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
